Randal Henderson, MD, MBA has more than 25 years experience as a radiation oncologist and is board certified in therapeutic radiology. A UF faculty member and physician at UF & Shands Jacksonville since 1998, he has led the Department of Radiation Oncology at Shands Jacksonville as its medical director, associate chairman and since 2006 as associate medical director of the UF Proton Therapy Institute.

Dr. Henderson’s expertise includes prostate cancer as well as gynecologic malignances.  He is the Principal Investigator on five prospective prostate cancer trials conducted at the UF Proton Therapy Institute.  Dr. Henderson serves on the Florida Biomedical Research Advisory Council.  That Council oversees the State of Florida research funds for cancer and tobacco-related illnesses, housed within the Bankhead-Coley and the James and Esther King research programs.  He is a past President and current member of the board of directors for the Florida Society of Clinical Oncology, and led the development of their state-wide Cancer Trials Network.  He is a member of American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

In his spare time, Dr. Henderson and his wife Jean compete in ballroom dancing and have held a championship title on the national level.
