Merry Jennifer Markham, MD, FACP, FASCO, is professor and Interim Chief of the Division of Hematology and Oncology at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. She is the Associate Director for Medical Affairs for the UF Health Cancer Center (UFHCC), serving as Chief Medical Officer for cancer services at UF Health.  She is the Research Lead for the UFHCC Gynecologic Oncology Disease Site Group, and her practice is focused on the care of patients with gynecologic cancers.

She earned her medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, and she completed both her internal medicine residency and combined hematology and oncology fellowship at the University of Florida. She joined the University of Florida as a faculty member in the Division of Hematology and Oncology within the Department of Medicine in 2008.

She is an active member of ASCO, the NRG Oncology clinical trials group, and the Society of Gynecologic Oncology. She is the past-chair of the ASCO Cancer Communications Committee and chair-elect of the QOPI Steering Group. She is the social media editor for two journals, the Journal of Clinical Oncology and the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. Her academic work is focused on treatment of gynecologic cancers, quality measurement and improvement in cancer care, and cancer communications, including the use of social media in medicine and oncology.
