Suncoast Cancer Institute Goes Above and Beyond

Suncoast Cancer Institute in Sarasota, FL founder, Dr. Penny Heinrich, and Amy Akins, BSN, RN, OCN, both diligently worked on a patient’s behalf in concert with Walgreen’s to facilitate a lower drug cost. A Tarceva patient originally filled a prescription and was told they would have a $2000 co-pay amount, that the patient was unable to afford. Along with a Walgreens Specialty Pharmacist, Dr. Heinrich and Ms. Akins went above and beyond for patient access. Together they were able to lower the patient’s copay down to $50. Congratulations to Suncoast Cancer Institute for providing compassionate and individualized care to Florida’s cancer patients.
