Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute Welcomes Dr. Adewale A. Fawole

Lake & Sumter Counties, FL – March 1, 2018. . . Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute (FCS), the leading community oncology/hematology practice in the state, is pleased to announce that Adewale Fawole, MD, has joined the practice as a hospitalist and will be seeing FCS patients who require hospitalization.

FCS CEO Brad Prechtl, MBA said, “Dr. Fawole will bring great expertise and stature as a Hospitalist in Lake and Sumter counties, focusing on bridging the continuum of care we offer patients who must be hospitalized. We are very pleased to have him join the FCS family.”

Dr. Adewale Fawole is a well-qualified, compassionate, board-certified Hematologist and Medical Oncologist. After completing his Internal Medicine Residency training at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, Dr. Fawole pursued Hematology and Medical Oncology Fellowship training at the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine in Michigan, where he served as a Chief Fellow. In recognition of his dedication to the care of cancer patients, Dr. Fawole received the Freeman Wilner Foundation’s Compassionate Care Award.

Prior to joining Florida Cancer Specialists, Dr. Fawole served as an Assistant Professor and Attending Physician in the Division of Hematology at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center (OSUCC)-James Cancer Hospital in Columbus, where he mentored upcoming physicians while also collaborating with other specialists. Dr. Fawole’s research work included colon cancer, lymphoma, brain cancer, multiple myeloma and other cancer-related conditions. His works have been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Clinical Oncology.

Dr. Fawole has broad experience in the treatment of cancers of the breasts, lung, prostate, GI system, Head & Neck, and central nervous system. He also treats patients with lymphomas, multiple myeloma, anemia, blood clots and other blood disorders. He focuses on providing patients with personalized treatment plans that fit their cancer without neglecting their quality of lives, and their loved ones. He uses the current knowledge in cancer genetics to prevent cancer in patients and their families. When he is not at work, Dr. Fawole enjoys spending time with his wife and three lovely children, traveling, reading and playing soccer.
