FLORIDA CANCER SPECIALISTS FOUNDATION HOSTS RECORD-BREAKING POLO BRUNCH

Wellington, FL – March 26th, 2018… The Florida Cancer Specialists (FCS) Foundation is proud to announce the second annual Polo Brunch event, which was held on March 4th, 2018 at the International Polo Club Palm Beach, set an event record, raising $135,000, with all proceeds going to theFCS Foundation. This year, the event was chaired by Linda and Jeffrey Phipps, Sr., along with Honorary Chairs and FCS physicians, Drs. Elizabeth Byron, Todd Gersten, Daniel Spitz, Raul Storey-Rojas and Sumithra Vattigunta-Gopal.
An event highlight was the appearance of international All-Star polo player, cancer survivor and philanthropist Brandon Phillips as guest speaker, who shared his personal cancer story. At fourteen, Brandon was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and given only six weeks to live. After months of treatment, Brandon beat the odds and today is cancer free. Brandon is now a Brand Ambassador for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and volunteers for many fundraising events. In addition to hearing Brandon’s inspiring story, guests enjoyed brunch, beverages and a polo match.
CEO of Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute and Board Chair of the FCS Foundation, Bradley Prechtl, MBA, said, “As the FCS Foundation Board Chair, I know that the Foundation Board, staff and volunteers work very hard to ensure that every Foundation event is successful. We are grateful for the continued support of our local community and FCS physicians in Palm Beach County.”
FCS Foundation Executive Director Lynn Rasys added, “We are thrilled to have doubled our fundraising efforts with a 54% increase over last year and 148 in attendance! The FCS Foundation would like to thank all our sponsors, as well as guest speaker and cancer survivor, Brandon Phillips, who shared his encouraging story.”
