Empirically Supported Biobehavioral Intervention

The 2015 Training Institutes will be held May 7-9, 2015

& again August 13-15, 2015

Overview of the From Cancer to Health (C2H)

From Cancer to Health Institutes provide training to mental health professionals in the delivery of an evidence-based, biobehavioral intervention.  The C2H treatment helps patients to cope effectively using cognitive and behavioral techniques that can reverse negative emotional, behavioral, and physical responses to cancer stress.

  • The training institute includes:
Didactic presentations in an interactive format with Barbara L. Andersen, PhD (intervention author) and other C2H experts
  • Experiential clinical skill development and practice of the C2H skills
  •  An opportunity for exchange and networking with other mental health professionals from around the country (and globe!).
  • Receipt and instruction in the usage of the C2H therapist and companion patient manuals.  At this time, these are available only to instititute trainees.

C2H training is not a “one shot” training opportunity.  Important support and training elements are offered post institute to aid in actual use of C2H upon return to your community.  Examples of these opportunities include the following:

  • Individual feedback and guidance on your adaptation plan for using C2H
  • Monthly telephone conferences with other trainees for the collective sharing of clinical insights and opportunities to ask inplimentation questions of trainers, and other topics.
  • Access to the many resources on the trainees-only web site

Other elements of institute attendance include receipt of no cost (!) continuing education credit, research participation, and others.
