Description

This interactive, live webinar will provide a comprehensive overview of the long-term and late effects of childhood blood cancers and their treatment. Faculty will focus on the importance of following a care plan and working in consultation with the treating pediatrician and/or family physician in a survivorship program. Survivorship guidelines for the childhood blood cancer patient population and resources for survivors and their families will be reviewed.   

Target Audience

Pediatricians, family physicians, oncologists, pediatric hematologists-oncologists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, and oncology social workers involved in the care of patients with hematologic malignancies.

Course Content Level for Social Workers: Intermediate and Advanced         

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Describe an overview of long-term and late effects of treatment for childhood blood cancers
  • Explain the importance of following a care plan, consultation in a survivorship program and communication between the treating pediatrician/family physician and family 
  • Address survivorship guidelines, including screening and management strategies
  • Identify strategies and resources to support survivors, including as they continue their education
