Dr. Wasif Riaz Joins Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute

New Physician to Sebring Office

Fort Myers, FL – December 3, 2014 . . . . Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute (FCS), the largest independent medical oncology/hematology practice in the United States, is pleased to announce that Wasif Riaz, MD, has joined the practice and will be seeing patients at the Sebring office beginning December 1, 2014.
FCS CEO Brad Prechtl said, “We are glad to welcome Dr. Riaz to Florida Cancer Specialists. He will be a great addition to our office in Sebring and will enhance our ability to provide a wide range of services to our patients in Highlands County.”
Dr. William Harwin, Founder and President of FCS, added, “Dr. Riaz comes to us with excellent credentials and a reputation for outstanding patient care. He has a great deal of experience in clinical research, including Phase I and II trials. We are very pleased he is joining our practice.”
A graduate of Nishtar Medical College, Dr. Riaz completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Guthrie/Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA and University at Buffalo in Buffalo, NY. He was awarded a Fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at The University of South Florida/Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa.
Dr. Riaz has extensive experience in clinical research, having served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in New York until 2010, and later through his involvement in writing clinical protocols for Phase I & II clinical trials at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL. Some of his numerous publications and presentations/poster sessions include articles in such prestigious journals as Cancer Control, British Journal of Haematology and Blood, as well as presentations at the annual meetings of American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). Fluent in four languages, Dr. Riaz is board-certified in Internal Medicine and is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology.
