Naples, FL – December 5, 2016…Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute (FCS), the leading community oncology/hematology practice in the state, is pleased to announce that Bennett Yu, MD has joined the practice and is seeing patients at two FCS locations. Dr. Yu will practice at the Bonita Springs office, located at 9776 Bonita Beach Road SE, Suite 201A, Bonita Springs, FL and the Naples Napa Ridge office, located at 6360 Pine Ridge Road, Suite 201, Naples, FL.
FCS CEO Brad Prechtl said, “We are excited to have Dr. Yu join our practice. He comes to us with excellent credentials and deep experience in both research and clinical practice. Dr. Yu will be able to add more convenience and expanded services to our patients in Bonita Springs and Naples. We are very pleased to have him in the FCS family.”

He has presented his research at national symposiums and has been extensively published in leading oncology journals. After finishing his internship and residency, Dr. Bennett Yu completed a research fellowship in Hematology at Albany Veterans Hospital and a Hematology Fellowship at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, followed by a Medical Oncology Fellowship at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) of the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, where he also served as a senior clinical investigator.
In his early career, Dr. Yu practiced at the Josephine Ford Cancer Center, serving as medical oncology consultant in the Multidisciplinary Breast Clinic and Brain Tumor Clinic. Demonstrating a keen interest in academic medicine and clinical research, Dr. Yu has held various research positions and served as assistant professor at both Wayne State University and the Eastern Virginia Medical School. Within his distinguished career, Dr. Yu has served as medical director of the Oncology Therapeutic Area at Wyeth Research in Cambridge, MA, Director of Oncology Research at the Peninsula Cancer Center in Salisbury, MD and Director of Research at West Michigan Cancer Center.
Prior to joining Florida Cancer Specialists, Dr. Yu served as Director, Moffitt Cancer Center at International Plaza in Tampa, FL, where he was also a member of the Gastrointestinal Tumor Program. A recognized leader in clinical research, Dr. Yu has been an invited speaker at national and regional conferences and his research has been extensively published in such prestigious journals as the Journal of Clinical Oncology and Journal of the National Cancer Institute.
